Number of Sneezes has significance?

As a kid, I saw an episode of Clarrissa Explains It All (I believe that was the show) and she said the number of times you sneeze in a row has a meaning. Anyone heard this?
I can't remember what each number meant, so I found an example on the internet. A guy claims that:
1 sneeze = dust/allergies
2 sneezes= a cold
3 sneezes= the flu

It surely can't be like that for everyone (if anyone at all)... some people sneeze many, many times in a row!

On a related note, anyone heard that how many times you sneeze in a row is "genetic"?

I doubt it's genetic, I'm the only serial sneezer I know of in my family. Most of my serial sneezing episodes are alergy related, too, so there goes that. My personal record of (I think) 18 or so came after leaving my FIL's house with a dozen cats.

I routinely sneeze 3 times in a row. Can't say that I don't have the flu, though, as I do right now. But it's still usually 3 sneezes.

I almost always sneeze three times in a row. And most of my sneezes are not allergies, cold or flu related. I usually sneeze when there's a sudden change in the temperature and when there's some irritant in the air. But when I do get a cold or the flu, my sneezes continue to happen in sets of 3. Hubby only sneezes once, usually. And the baby split the difference and tends to sneeze twice.

No way, having spent my entire life multi-sneezing, I have never once gotten off. If it had ever led to that I would have bought a basket of kittens YEARS ago!

First of all, what would Clarrissa know? She turned out to be a witch.

I rarely sneeze, if I sneeze more than twice in a day then for sure I will have a cold by the next morning. That is a sure way to tell if I am going to get sick. I never sneeze from allergies, my nose is running way too fast for that to ever happen. I haven't had the flu in many many years so I don't know about that.

One thing I learned in High School was to take a pouch of Kool-Aid and breathe in as you open it. If you get that real fine dust in your nose you will most likely spend the next 15 minutes sneezing. I got out of a couple tests that way. Just make sure that you use lemonade or something light in color. You may end up with funky colored boogies if you use something like cherry.

Regarding the "orgasm" myth, I think that was started because often sneezing can feel really really good (or at least it can for me.) So it can sort of have that relaxed feeling you get after an orgasm from sneezing, but 1/10th of an orgasm is definitely an exagerration.

It reminds me of that bit on 3rd Rock From the Sun where the woman alien kept sneezing over and over and commenting on it being like a mini-orgasm.

I usually sneeze once. My dad however can sneeze up to five times in a row.

No clue about genetic, but, I usually sneeze 3 or 4 times in a row - hard - almost on a daily basis, and since I don't have the flu when I do it, it doesn't seem to hold true for me.

I've heard the 1/10 orgasm one too. Although I always heard "If you sneeze ten times, it's equal to an orgasm!" After someone sneezed a couple times, the manditory count began. No one ever reached ten (I think we got 9 though)

Well, sometimes I've sneezed as many as five or six times and I sure didn't feel like a smoke afterwards.

Well, strictly speaking, yes it is but it has all sorts of uses.

I've also used it for charity sticker/ribbon/wristband/lapel pin sellers in the mall.

When I was younger I only sneezed one sneeze at a time. Now I always sneeze twice. If it's genetic, does that mean someone (or thing) has messed with my DNA?

I always sneeze 7+ times when i sneeze. People have said i sneeze like a cat. Never gotten off on it though.

I have also heard the one which says that every time you sneeze your heart stops. I'd be long dead by now if this was true!
