Manly men have longer ring fingers?

Each man's testosterone level was assessed by comparing the length of his index finger to his ring finger; men whose ring fingers are longer have a higher testosterone level.

Anyone else hear of this?

It seems that there may be a link between relative digit length and in utero testosterone exposure, but I can't see claiming that anyone has a higher "testosterone level" because of their finger ratios.

I first heard of this early last year. In my immediate circle of girlfriends, there is a couple of really girly girls, and one really staunch, tomboy, [I am woman hear me roar] type. the girlygirls came up short in the ring fingers-index fingers comparison, but the tomboy was waaaay over - such that you practicially didn't even need to measure, as soon as you looked, you could see the difference.

Huh, for some reason my brain associates long fingers with being feminine. I don't know why, it's just an immediate gut reaction.

I heard something like that on an AM radio show one day. I thought it was odd because it was my dad, his woman employee and me and the two women had longer ring fingers and my dad's were about the same length. We decided that us women were more manly than my dad. We are definately not girly girls, that's for sure.

My ring finger is probably 1/4 inch longer than my index, I have always felt that I had man hands. They are short and stubby.

I have heard this since at least middle school. "If your fourth finger is shorter than your second, you're gay!! Hahahahahaha"

I have long pianist fingers, or so I've been told. As it is, depending on how I hold my fingers, my ring finger is either the same length as my first finger or the same length as my middle finger.

I don't, however, really understand why there should be a connection between relative finger length and testosterone, but then I'm no people chemicals science type person.

My ring finger is noticably longer than my index on both hands, and I am one of the most immasculate men that I know.

On my left hand the ring finger is longer and on my right hand the index finger is longer. Obviously I'm a hermaphrodite.

I remember hearing about this before as well. While it's obviously not going to be a definitive gage, I overheard once on a documentary about transsexualism that MTF transsexuals do tend to have shorter ring fingers, and FTM tend to have longer ring fingers.

All I really know is, I'm definitely not a girly-girl, I'd be happier with a penis, and my ring finger is very obviously longer than my index finger. Curiously, I've never really thought to check my fianccee's hands. I'll do that when he gets home from work.

I'm an engineer, formerly a tomboy, crap at girly stuff (fashion, make-up etc), high sex-drive and my ring finger is way longer than my index finger. I guess there was a bit too much testosterone floating around when I was developing, but I'm happy being female, albeit a bit unconventional.

The ring fingers on both of my hands are longer than my index fingers, but I wouldn't consider myself particularly manly. Maybe it has something to do with penile length?

I've just found out after 43 years that I'm a woman, thanks to this research.

I have just recently heard that a long ring finger on a female means she might have more natural athletic ability. This is the first time I've heard anything about men & their ring fingers.

I tried to measure my ringfinger but he then told me that its not the size that matters, but what you can do with it. Though, I have no idea what to do with my ringfinger.

I heard a legend similar to this when I was young. If your big toe is longer than your second toe, you will tend to dominate your partner. If your second toe is longer than your big toe, then you will be submissive. If they are equal, you prefer an equal relationship. I always thought of it as an old wives tale. My big toe is slightly longer than the second toe, and my relationship with my wife is more or less equal.
