This person thinks so; I think he's batNFBSK.
This person used to call a talk show I listened to back in the 90s. He'd make some unrelated-to-the-topic point before segueing into plugging his website. Got so the host knew who he was despite the use of pseudonyms to the call screener.

That's got to go down as one of the crazier/dumber/most off the wall conspiracy theories I've heard on the internet. Then again I don't really go seek them out.
What are some other really out there ones?

I believe his murder was actually witnessed by a few people and Chapman has repetitively admitted to murdering Lennon.

Wow, Stephen King must be loving this guy. Free publicity of exactly the twisted kind King loves. This actually sounds like the plot of a Stephen King novel.

I've always gotten the impression King values his privacy. I bet he's hating this. Which is absolutely ridiculous.
How dare he use the name Mark in a book?

His privacy? Sure. But this isn't exactly invading his privacy, just using his name for some stupid inane conspiracy theory. I imagine King wishes he thought of it first.

Pfft. Lennon isn't even dead! I saw him playing golf with Elvis at the country club just last week!

I think Richard Bachman killed John Lennon.

I think it was Yoko Ono.

Mark Chapman and Stephen King are both dark-haired wide-faced Caucasian males with glasses. So am I. Maybe we are the same person. We all shine on, like the moon and the stars and the sun.

Nah. Yoko killed all the Beetles long before 1980.

I meant in more of a plot of a book way, not a "get on the internet and post information" way. King just never struck me as the type to get bent out of shape because someone said he killed John Lennon. Unless you've been reading very different forewards/afterwards and other non-fiction writing that he's done then I have.

I could swear that I read somewhere that King actually got a fan letter or a request for an autograph or something from Chapman (saying he was his "number one fan"), before he killed John Lennon. Maybe I read it in an essay or something about one of his ideas for writing Misery.
Can anybody confirm this or tell me I'm delusional?

Wasn't the killer of John Lennon apprehended at the scene? In which case I presume the man arrested was identified by witnesses as the person who shot John Lennon.
In which case there are three possibilities. The person arrested etc. is David Chapman and he fired the shots. The person arrested at the scene and still incarcerated was Stephen King, and all books subsequently written by 'King' have been written by an imposter. Stephen King fired the shots, but before the arrest, he was switched for Chapman in some sort of clever street magic type illusion. Feel free to rank these in order of likelyhood. I know I have. But more likely than ANY of them - we're all a part of a Stephen King novel which he's written himself into and created this entire conspiracy for laughs. Also, George W. Bush was created by King because he thought having a monkey as the POTU was hilarious.

Oh, wow. This is surreal.
Back about 19 years ago when I was a reporter for my college paper I interviewed Mr. Lightfoot. I'm not terribly shocked that he's still at it, and it's a pretty spiffy website. He was probably the most dedicated individual I've ever known to any cause. My interview, if I recall, wasn't terribly productive & the editor scrubbed the article (grrr...). What I do remember is that he had woven quite the intricate fantasy. He gave me copies of Time Magazine's letters to the editor that clearly outlined secret messages that Mr. Lightfoot had been able to decode. At the time we all thought he would go postal someday, but looks like he went internet instead. |
