A state-of-the-art hoax has left a Norfolk MP seeing double after a “scurrilous” fake computer website was created about his political career and home life.
Norman Lamb was shocked to find that a false profile of himself had appeared on the Facebook internet site, which helps millions of people stay in touch with their friends. http://www.fakenhamtimes.co.uk/conte...A59%3A20%3A117 |

"Computer website"? For some reason that phrase makes me think the next page will be an entertainment piece detailing Spiderman 3 as "The latest 'talkie' moving picture"

Well if you didn't specify the 'computer' bit, a website could refer to a nature reserve or SSSI with a population of rare spiders. It's always best to avoid confusion.

I get the feeling the author isn't too savvy with this new flanged technology, hence someone registering on facebook with someone else's name becomes a "State-of-the-art" hoax...

Didn't Ross and Chandler do this to each on Friends many years ago? Not the Facebook thing, but printing false information about each other on their school's alumni site?

Yes. On a more low-tech scale, Rachel and Monica did the same thing to each other on an even earlier episode, pretending to be each other and each talking about the other's most embarrassing secrets as if it were her own.
