There are wine glasses at Versailles modeled after the breasts of Marie Antoinette. |

I'm curious how you found out about the wine glasses. Did you see them? It'd be an interesting origin of the legend if it's so. |

BUT...I just read a legend which said it was untrue and that the same claim had been made for Pompadour and DuBarry - both mistressees of Louis 15, grandfather-in-law to Marie Antoinette and also for the Empress Josephine. Seems timing was wrong for all of them. Wine glasses made before any of them were born. OTOH: my seat mate was not one to speak lightly of "rumours" and it is possible that instead of wine glasses they might have been dessert glasses. The shape is certainly that of a breast. |
