Default Hitler's secret musical collection - of Russian and Jewish artists

Quote:
The collection reveals that while Hitler was publicly heralding "racially pure" German music, his musical taste may have been more closely aligned to the artists he ostracised.

Hitler's passion for Richard Wagner is well documented: however this collection contains works by Tchaikovsky, Rachmaninov and Borodin which are worn and scratched from frequent use.

Just to be picky, is there such a thing as a German race. I though they were like the Italians, a mixture of different groups that unified by language.

Hitler seemed to think that it was blonde haired, blue eyed Germans who were the pure race.

Apparently nobody noticed that he was brown haired and Austrian...

In every article I've seen so far, the records are marked (in German, of course) "Fuhrer HQ". Doesn't necessarily mean they were Hitler's personal property. I know the Nazis collected "degenerate" art to show how inferior non-Aryan artists were, and were embarrassed when a show of "degenerate art" was more popular than an "Aryan" art show running at the same time.

As I recall, the Nazis amassed tons of Jewish "Cultural Artifacts"---they intended to create museums after they had finished exterminating them to inform later generations what they were like...sorta like dinosaurs, I guess.

But isn't that only the case for northern Germans who look rather Scandinavian. Down south, and in Austria where Hitler was from, they looked different.

But that wouldn't explain why these records are well played.
