Airplane Ricky Nelson's death

Comment: Were Rock & Roll Hall of Fame member Ricky Nelson and his band freebasing cocaine when their plane caught fire, causing a fatal crash?

The NTSB report (PDF) gives the cause of ignition as undetermined.

Oddly I have found this embellished version which blames it on a faulty heater.

Nelson's friends are adamant that he never would have freebased. I suppose that's what you'd expect from a loyal friend, but they just might be right.

Also if I remember correctly the plane in question was made from a magnisum compound because alunium was running out when the plane was made.

I do recall at the time newpaper reports that Ricky and his girlfriend have traces of drugs in their system at the time of their death. Don't remember what type of drugs.
