Comment: I have recently been told that the ingredient, "cellulose gum,"
is actually made from the waste fibers produced by the manufacture of
undergarments by the Hanes company.

Comment: I have heard a rumor Parliament Cigarettes' recessed filters. The
rumor claims that this brand of cigarettes began using the recessed filter
when powdered cocaine use increased. The recessed filter allows a small
amount of cocaine to be portioned out and snorted. Can you find any
evidence that Philip Morris chose to make the cigarettes this way because
of rising cocaine use?

Dog

Comment: I was told that dogs of the pug breed have weak eyes. I was told
that their eyes can just pop out. I don't mean prolapse, I mean pop out
and roll around on the ground, like you put it in a bag and bring it in
with the dog and the doctor puts the eye back in and magically makes it
work.

Comment: My cousin recently told me that he had heard from "someone who
always researches things" several things about the Prophet Mohammed.
According to his source, Mohammed was not illiterate but had been a
Cardinal of the Church, one Lothar Shalmasus (spelling may be suspect),
who had been "passed over" for the papacy and then went into the desert
and created his own religion.

I know something about the history of Islam, though it is from the Muslim
viewpoint, and have never heard anything like this. It sounds like
Muslim-bashing to me.

Comment: I believe there is a statue of a meraid in the harbor at
Copenhagen, Denmark. Was the Danish Government actually forced to put a
burkah on this statue, or at least cover her breasts and put a hood on her
hair?

Comment: I have been told that Adolf Hitler was considering making
Lincoln, Nebraska the capitol of the Third Reich in America because he
admired the phallic nature of the state capitol building in Lincoln.

Goldfish Some Truth To The Rumour

Apparently, there is some slight truth behind this. According to the International Herald Tribune in it's May 20th, 2007 edition:

Quote:
The Little Mermaid statue in Denmark's capital was found draped in Muslim dress and a head scarf Sunday morning, police said.
The article further notes:

Quote:
In 2004, someone put a burqa, the head-to-toe Islamic robe, on the statue along with a sign saying "Turkey in the EU?" in reference to Turkey's bid to join the European Union.
But while the Little Mermaid statue has worn Islamic dress on a couple of occasions to cover her naked fishiness, it had nothing to do with the policies of the Danish Government.

Hey, ya learns something new every day!

Ta ra 'wan,

Ieuan "Not that fishy" ab Arthur

Comment: I have been told that the soft drink Mountain Dew is called that
because it symbolizes mountain goat pee, hence the yellow color. It is
correct or just a myth?

Comment: What is the true origin of 007? Does it bear any resemblance to
the actual numbering system for British spies?

Someone told me it was taken from German lavatories, for which the symbol
is 00, and 007 indicates the one on the 7th floor of the building.
Someone else said it was the British word "Loo" but upside down and
backwards.

Is there any truth to any of this? Was Ian Fleming having us on?

Why does this remind me of the old joke about the woman who went into a car dealership and asked for a "710 cap"?
