Lights Out makes a brief appearance in the crime thriller Buried, by Mark Billingham. It's mentioned in passing by one of the characters as a particularly nasty gang initiation ceremony being investigated in London, where the gang members shoots at the first person to flash their headlights, but it's not the main focus of the book.
