Dog Michael Vick SPCA ad

Comment: I received this attachment in an e-mail regarding the
Virginia Beach Society for the Prevention of Cruelty
to Animals thanking Michael Vick for taking in 14 pit
bull terriers displaced by hurricane Katrina. With
the recent revelations about his involvement in dog
fighting, I am wondering if this is legitimate or just
a sick joke?

Very poorly done fake: the text on the bottom looks added in, missing commas, and "hurricane" should be capitalized.

I don't get it. Cruel, sick joke?

Does he have something against Pit bulls?

Well, I didn't find anything at the VA Beach SPCA web site, though I didn't look that hard. I would think that if the adoption story were true and they were happy enough to make a poster about it, they would have it prominently on their web site.

The top of the poster is a dead match for the top of the web site, so the image was probably snagged from there.

Google "Michael Vick dog fight"

Although the first link with a story from today suggests he wasn't involved after all.

Read that link (Thank you) and I love the first two, very contrasting comments to the story.

I am completely shocked that a professional athelete would be mixed up in some kind of illegal activity! What a shocker! I'm sure Sheriff Arpaio will find a "Valley Connection" linking Vick to the loss of the Suns, the immigration problem, the meth trade, the "Black" bug problem, and anything else Arpaio can go running off to the media with. Thanks for solving another crime, single-handedly, Mr. Arpaio!

I hope Vick never plays in the NFL again! As well I hope he has to pay tons of money back to animal hospitals and many other shelters. What a piece of trash he is. Rot in jail that would be nice.

That article just says he wasn't involved with a 2004 dogfighting incident in Arizona. He's still under indictment for recent dogfighting-related charges in Virginia.

I vote fake. I also did a quick search through the Katrina section & found nothing. Also, I don't think they had the same color scheme on the website back then, they just copied the current to make it look updated. I say personal photo (he's trying to be gangster, omg!)...It's sad when my home territory is varnished.

Would a real poster display his address?

I also just noticed that it only says he helped pits...that's too obvious to be real, the shelter helps many breeds and I really don't think allows catering to one specific breed even if by a celebrity endorser.
