Comment: Attached is a copy of a letter purported to be from a Cleveland city
councilman. The letterhead is a bit suspect ("Legislative Department") but this is Cleveland, after all. If it's real, it's pretty amazing because of what the subject of the letter could do to the city councilman in court. Polensek is indeed a city councilman http://www.clevelandcitycouncil.org/...7/Default.aspx

A nice touch that he sent a copy to the Plain Dealer.

Call me skeptical, but the name Phillip Morris at the Plain Dealer, seemed too good to be true.
However: http://www.cleveland.com/plaindealer...l=2&thispage=1 Looks like this one is real. I guess that the Cleveland City Council by its charter would be the Legislative Department of the City of Cleveland. Ali "is the river still burning?" Infree |

Again, this joke is still not funny.
It's true. This is the second letter the Councilman sent. He said the first one was "polite". After watching the councilman on the news, I was not overly impressed. He seems like a total jackass. Oh, and his misuse of quotes is really annoying. The mother says that his closing line of "Go to jail or the cemetery soon" is a threat.

Tzarina: Point taken, it was a long time ago.
The letter is very mean in its tone, and without examples of his other letters or knowledge of the Wards and neighborhoods involved, I cannot make up my mind whether he was being racist. I have my suspicions, based on the Morris column. I will take your word about his assholiness. The use of quotes irritate the NFBSK out of me too. I was always taught to use them to actually enclose quotes and that these other uses were trite. Ali Infree |

A lot of us think it is.
Only people in San Francisco think that earthquake jokes "aren't funny." Everyone else still gets a smile from them. It could be worse; you could live in Columbine, Colorado. Silas |

Why would you feel the need to make a joke about something that went on for about 30 minutes in 1969? Not exactly a timely joke topic, now is it?

Hope that his dumb-as-mud ass doesn't move to my town. Of course the question of whether the NFL is or is not "for losers" remains debatable. We'll see how the Michael Vick thing plays out. |
