Comment: A MATTER OF CONCERN
My Son was Home this weekend. He travels for the Company he works for. Last week, all traveling employees were told to keep Lysol with them at all times. Theres a new disease brought in by foreigners that starts out like small whiteheads on the skin. They were told to spray every John and Motel room that they used or stayed in, to spray sheets and even carpets. Lysol will kill this Germ. Disease gets in Blood and Surgery is required to get rid of it. If you don't go for help, this disease will kill. Please take caution and keep Lysol with you. Please pass this to everyone on your email list. |

Nice! Lysol scented johns for the prostitutes. So what does this Disease do to your Blood that requires Surgery? Does it make masses in the Blood? If not, that would be one heck of an intricate Surgery to remove infected Blood. |

If he's travelling it's not the foreigner's fault is it?

Perhaps in his inept way, the commenter is pointing out that surgery is required to remove the lesions or whatever. All but the most minor surgeries require some blood replacement by transfusion, and you cannot trust blood in 'foreign places' not to be tainted with something worse.
Other than that I've got nothing. |

"Hi Mr. Lizard. Thank you for travelling all this way to meet us. My name's Joh..." [hiss] "...aaargh, myNFBSKing eyes. It burns."
"Sorry John. Company policy. Now let's go over the Reddison contract." Last edited by Eddylizard; 16 July 2007 at 10:11 PM. |

What's the name of this so-called disease? "Acne?"
Oddly enough, I HAVE been sick two out of the three times I left the country. Given the fact that I suffer from allergies and sinus infections no matter where I am, it isn't saying much. |

Apparently the Writer of this letter learned Capitalization from James Frey. Perhaps he learned Fact Checking from him, too.

And if he is travelling to foreign places, is he not the foreigner?

I could be wrong, but isn't there an STI that starts out with whitehead type things on the old fellah?
Perhaps the son should have made a more appropriate decision when choosing the 'local entertainments'. Nice try though blaming on the sheets, carpets and toilet seats. |

Mirgant workers go to the United States with dreams of new prosperity, hoping to bring back dollars. But they are bringing back something else as well, HIV and AIDS, and they are spreading them in the rural parts of Mexico least prepared to handle the epidemic.

My guess is that this is a terrific morphing of a couple of news stories. One is reported here Hotel guests leave plenty of germs behind. Basically, the study determined that people with colds could leave a lot of virus behind when they check out of a hotel room. The study was sponsored by, ahem, Reckitt Benckiser Inc., "which manufactures, markets and sells household, cleaning and specialty food products in North America, including LYSOLŪ."
The second part is a spate of recent articles on bed bugs as a resurgent problem in US hotels. An example Bed Bugs Lurk in Hotel Rooms |
