This doesn't even make any sense, unless he has never once prepared a meal for himself and doesn't understand how the food on his plate got to be that way.

Comment: You article about a chemical to turn pool water with urine in it
to a particular color is partially correct. There is a medication given to people with painful urinary tract infections, and it does turn the urine red, which would be visible to others if you had taken this medication and then pee'd in public. In fact, many years ago, a woman in such a situation said that her doctor nor her pharmacist warned her of such a side effect, she had an embarrassing incident in a pool, and successfully sued for damages. The medication is called pyridium, and is a mild anesthetic to the bladder. If you wanted to know if people were urinating in your pool, you could give them this medication, and then sit back and observe. I don't know of any chemical that you can add to a pool to reveal what may be in the water, but I do know that whenever we host a large party, our swimming pool appears noticably yellow the next day, when it normally appears pure light blue in color! You could call a pharmacist to verify this information. This is a medication that has been around for 30+ years, and well known by most urologists. |

While the new item today about the whale and kayaker is false, it did happen and was caught on film in Sandbridge, Virginia Beach some years ago. There are probably better pictures somewhere but here is one link. |

Comment: I was just forwarded an update of the burundanga business card legend with
references to the University of Alberta Hospital, Edmonton City Police and Alberta Social Services, (and Paul Bevan again), but while I was familiar with the hoax previously, I had not read your description of the effects of Burundanga before. I was forcefully reminded of the time when my first-born was just under two years of age and my husband and I went to Mazatlan. In Mazatlan, they use those little golf cart cabs. We went to one of the restaurants the hotels recommend that offer a free drink with your meal via one of these cabs, and on the way the cab driver was trying very hard to convince my husband to come enjoy some night life after the meal. We ate our meal, and shared one margarita between the two of us. We were arguing vehemently because my husband was actually considering doing this, and I think our impairment escaped our notice at first. My son grabbed a tabasco bottle and put it into his mouth, and though I saw him doing it, I could not react fast enough to stop him. The waitress came by and promptly removed the bottle. The same cabbie returned for our trip back to the hotel and tried to convince the dumb hubby to go out. Fortuntely, though still ticked at me, the dumb hubby knew what side his bread was buttered on and did not separate from us. I was still wide awake and stumbling around at 3 am. As we discussed it the next day, it was clear we had been impaired beyond what was reasonable for one shared drink, but I don't think we really appreciated the close call we had experienced until much later. And the hubby's gotten a bit smarter after many years of listening to his wise wife! |

Comment: In today's snope update #479 one of the sections was entitled Rumor: An animal shelter will soon be closing or moving and will euthanize all the animals that have not been adopted. In fact, this was in progress in Newmarket, Ontario, Canada until major protests stopped it. Here are a few of the articles about this event which happened in May, 2010 http://www.digitaljournal.com/article/291961 http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/...rticle1564978/ Events like these would tend to force other older similar ones to float to the top again. |

Comment: About the Facebook rumor about child pornographers- although perhaps that particular group "becoming a parent was the best thing...." may not have been true, in fact child pornographers HAVE been operating on Facebook and you need to insert that VITAL point in your response as an update. Your response that it's a rumor will lead them into a false sense of security. See BBC: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-11101149 and also ones on ABC, Mercury Times, AOL and some others. CNN is curiously silent on this... |

Comment: I just received a forwarded email titled new rape method where an older lady called for help from a passenger seat of a car at Target. The would be victim remembered an email warning from her mom the week before and decided to get a manager to help the woman. When the manager got close a man jumped out and tried to abduct her. The would be victim yelled to call 911, but a police officer saw the whold thing and rescued the woman. I was skeptical because there were no details or names, and an older woman luring a victim is just wrong, so I checked your site and found that you are assuming that all these warnings are false since they cannot be verified. Because you are calling all the warnings false I wanted to tell you my story about my would-be abduction. You are welcome to contact me by email or cell if you wish. I was going to Smith's grocery store in Albuquerque, NM back in 1986-7. It was at night and it wasn't long after a woman named Linda Lee Daniels was abducted outside her home and killed in Albuquerque. I think they may have found a bag of groceries outside her door, too. Anyway, I was crossing the parking lot and had to wait for a car to go by before walking inside so I noticed that the male driver was alone. After I finished shopping I went back outside and noticed the same car parked by itself about a 100 feet away, with the driver just waiting. I thought it was strange because I knew the driver came in alone. When I pulled out and got on Central, the car followed. I thought, oh brother, I know you are there. I was more upset for the next girl he followed that didn't notice him. So I did a u-turn and went back into Smith's and called the police who told me to just go home and they would send out an officer. I asked if they wanted me to wait so I could identify the guy but the 911 operator said no. I knew they didn't take me seriously because of the Linda Lee Daniels abduction; they thought I must be a hysterical woman. When I went back outside, before I got in my car I looked over at that man waiting in his car so he knew I knew what he was doing. Before I could back out, he drove behind my car and blocked me in for only a moment and then drove away. Long story short, I wish the police had taken me seriously and allowed me to identify the guy so they could question him. Maybe they didn't care because a crime had not been committed but I have to wonder if it got committed shortly after. |

Huh, not likely. But maybe next time you might think twice about having cut that guy off before you turned into the carpark at Smiths.
(Most likely explanation). |

Comment: The cash back scam that you state is false, is in fact true. I had this experience about 5 years ago at a supermarket in Lincolnshire, UK. Not Walmart. When I arrived home, I thought it was a bit expensive for the amount of shopping I had bought, and checked all the articles against the receipt. I had been billed for a £50 cash back that I had never requested. I had paid with a Visa Debit card and hadn't had my purse with me. I went back to the shop where it was found that the checkout person had put the money in her locker to return the money to me when I went back to the shop again!!! |

Comment: I'm writing in regards to an article I read today on the website: "Targeted for Crime". It reminded me of a recent incident, here in Wareham, MA. It had nothing to do with an elderly person, but it did have to do with a convicted rapist luring woman using a "good Samaritan" act. Apparently, he lured a woman from her vehicle by telling her she had left her shopping bag or purse on the roof of her car and when she got out of her car to get it he attempted to grab her to get her into his van. THIS is real: http://www.bostonherald.com/news/reg...k_at_wal-mart/. |

Comment: Just wanted to comment on the "Le-a" article. I'm a 5th grade
teacher in Union City, TN. I do indeed have a student this year named "Ladasha". The dash is spelled out, and she pronounces it with a long a as: La-day-sha. Not as funny as the article, but I did find it interesting. Love your site, BTW. |

Your articles states: In fact Japanese nuclear officials have said repeatedly that they're dealing with "a minimal level of radiation that does not harm human health." My comment: That's probably what the people of Ukraine were told when Chernobyl occurred. You should view this link to see what this can do to human health. http://inmotion.magnumphotos.com/essay/chernobyl May God have mercy on us. |

Comment: re: MILITARY PAY FREEZE THE ANSWER TO THIS IS REPORTED AS FALSE, BUT MY DAUGHTER JUST READ A WHOLE ARTICLE FROM A .MIL WEBSITE FROM THE MARINES THAT STATES THAT IF THE BUDGET DOES NOT GET FIXED THEN APRIL 1ST MAY BE THE LAST PAY FOR ANY FEDERAL EMPLOYEE (INCLUDING ACTIVE DUTY MILITARY). THEY PASSED A RESOLUTIONB AT MIDNIGHT LAST NIGHT TO MAKE SURE THEY GET PAID ON APRIL 1. IF I RECALL CORRECTLY THE MILITARY PERSONNEL SIGNED A CONTRACT WITH THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT, TO SERVE. WOULD THIS BE A BREACH OF CONTRACT IF THESE YOUNG MEN AND WOMEN DONT GET PAID? THIS IS A TRUE STATEMENT |
