Life with Father
Comment: I READ THIS IN THE CORONET MAGAZINE YEARS AGO- Clarence Day was in the hospital dying of cancer and frantically trying to finish Life With Father.His doctors said that he should be dead,but he had decided he would stay alive until the book was finished!Finally it was,and his publisher hurried over to pick it up.When he returned to his office he had to immediatly attend to a dispute among his staff,so he tossed the manuscript on top of a filing cabinet.When he returned,the manuscript was gone! His secretary said the garbage man had just left and he must have taken it with some old magazines.There ensued a frantic chase to catch up with the truck,ending with the publisher standing at the hopper as the trash was tumbling thru it into the furnace -- Miraculously he caught it!
