Comment: I have heard, as well as has others, that in the movie "Going My
Way" that Bing Crosby surprised co-star Barry Fitzgerald with his real mother in the movie's final scene, instead of the actress who had been rehearsing the part of the old priest's mother. I cannot seem to find corroboration of this account anywhere. Fitzgerald's reaction seems to be one of total shock. Did Crosby, during war time travel restrictions, actually pull this off? |

According to IMDB, the mother was played by Adeline DeWalt Reynolds. IIRC, she certainly looked like she could have been his mother, and it's a very moving scene.
