How can someone get food poisoning from eating human flesh unless the one being eaten already had food poisoning? That's what I'd like to know.

Presumably the same as any meat? ie insufficient preservation and/or cooking and unclean kitchen practices, particularly when you're not experienced at dealing with meat that hasn't been prepared for cooking.

See, that's the problem with eating orientals - an hour later you're hungry again.

The same way you can get it from any ill prepared meat. Since they found a finger in the guys stomach, I would guess that their methods weren't exactly kosher.

Or the poisoning could be from the toxins and even vitamins accumulated in human fat.
Mammals store toxins in their fat: Eating mammal fat is unhealthy. Eating the fat of mammals that eat other mammal fat is even unhealthier, because the store the toxins that were in their prey's fat. Eating the fat of mammals that eat other mammals and eat a whole bunch of fat-soluble preservatives, or additives, or density adjusting agent is even worse. |

Just a tip for the next board you join: If you want to make a good first impression, don't start off with racist jokes about eating people. But welcome!

Thanks for the concern, and I certainly will keep that in mind should I ever be tempted to do so. Since I have not done so, I do not understand what prompts the advice, though. My comment was neither racist, nor prejudiced, nor bigoted. It was insensitive about the gruesomeness of the situation - much humor is like that - but it was not even a matter of racial insensitivity.

A Turtle named Mack has a thick shell. That will serve you well here, mate. I was tempted to make a bad pun out of the stereotypical view of Chinese food not being filling, or "finger food" not being hygienic, too.
The only racism I can see is in the original article. Quote:

Never mind that indigenous Qataris are Asian too.

Mack beat me to the punchline as well. Yes, there's a fuzzy and thin line between humor that is racial and humor that is racist. I'm probably not the best one to try and describe where that line is located. I work in a firehouse, so macabre humor is something of a professional tool and I use it quite often.
Anyway, on the subject of racial bias, am I the only one who noticed something in the article that could use some clarification? Quote:
