Icon13 Kroger Bans 'Gay Music'

Comment: Is the rumor that Kroger is refusing to play "gay music" true or
false?

I'm guessing that a column called "The Fabricator" probably shouldn't be taken literally:

http://www.nashvillescene.com/Storie...ns_Gay_Music_/

Probably a spoof of this story:

The real question isn't "are they banning gay music", but "is there even such a thing as gay music".

If we eliminate all the 'gay' music, what's next, all the 'drug and/or alchohol addict' music? It's gonna get awful quiet around here.

Gospel with out question would be out.

I may be giving this more thought than it deserves, but none of my local Kroger stores play music at all.

House music is considered by some as "gay" music.

But everyone knows that Coldplay makes you gay.

Ban techno, house and Coldplay?

I'll drink to that.

Do they mean music that is done by gay people or music that has a subject matter the gay lifestyle?

Or jaunty little ditties? Perhaps they only play funeral marches, fugues and genarally melancholy music.

You're probably not going to my Kroger, then. I hate it when they play a good song and interrupt it with a dumb annoucement.

I work at Kroger. Trust me, they play some pretty gay stuff. But they do play a lot of surprisingly good music: The Cure, Pink Floyd, Rush, CCR, lots of classic rock like that and a bunch of 80s pop too.

Default Halloween at Kroger

RE: Music at Kroger

Several years ago the store I work at got the great idea to play ONLY "scary" music the full week before Halloween - I remember things like the theme from Jaws, Psycho etc. mixed in with squeelling doors, screams etc.

Thing was, no one considered the fact that, while cute for the customers, they were essentially bombarding their employees with music designed to put people on edge for 8 HOURS A DAY! Needless to say there were more arguments and breakdowns in the few days it took for management to figure this out then there were in the entire month of October. Eventually they did turn back to regular music - but in retrospect it was an interesting psychological experiment.

Hmmm, if there is 'gay music' and if Krogers is indead going to stop playing it, I have to ask Why? Are they afraid their customers will catch Teh Gayness?

So, which is the "adultry" song? Because "Lips of an Angel" wasn't about adultry. Nevermind...read the interviews yourself.

I could deal with a "KHNR" radio. Of course, I'm also a member of the Hinder Army...

At my grocery store, I can almost predict the likelyhood of an announcement based on how much I like the music currently playing. The more I like it, the more likely it is that they'll need a cleanup on aisle 17 and bring a mop.

You can't catch it. It's in aisle 23, and currently on sale at 2/$1. Such a deal!
