My friend just told me that it is now a felony in New York to call someone a "Nigger". Not that I go around calling people that or anything, but I mean COME ON, how can that be true? Is she just pulling my leg?

"smybolically bans" is just a fancy way of saying, "we have no authority but we want to acknowledge that it is a racist bigoted word that should never be used" right? I'm okay with that part, however I think the request that songs containing the word be banned from considering for the Grammies is not cool. Most of the songs that use it (gangsta rap style songs) aren't grammy worthy anyway, but I'm sure that there is some context where the word could be used in a grammy-worthy song and used well, and they shouldn't be banned from consideration for using it.

I thought it was the word "nigger-guy" that got banned.
Okay, yeah, I watch too much South Park. |

Yeah you do, but I'm right there with you. Maybe it was made in response to the NY thing. Feeling to lazy to look.
