Default Accessing the archived message board (msgboard.snopes.com)

In multiple threads, people are commenting that they can't find the archived board, so here it is: http://msgboard.snopes.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi

In order to view it, you'll need to clear your cookies. I cleared all of my temporary Internet files, history, cookies etc.

You can do a full search, for member names etc, but you can't view profiles.

Just though y'all might like to know!

Just bumping this thread, as some people seem to have missed it.

It might be helpful for those who use various browsers to post the instructions for clearing these things.

For Safari (the Mac browser) I went to Safari > Reset Safari... which dumped all of the temporary internet files.

For Firefox:

Tools --> Clear Private Data.

It gives you a dialog box with several options to clear.

Opera (9.0 and above)

Right click on the page, choose 'Edit Site Preferences'
Click the tab Cookies
Highlight each Cookie and click delete

This way will clear only your snopes cookies, leaving other site logins intact.

Any chance this could be moved to the "Announcements" forum and pinned?

Read This!

tag, you can change the icon if you press the "Go Advanced" button. The edit feature takes you to a quick reply box type thing for edits.

If you don't want to clear everything in Safari, you can go to Safari>Preferences, click on the Security tab, click the Show Cookies button. Locate and remove all the cookies for msgboard.snopes.com (when the list is sorted by "website" it goes by the domain name, so scroll down to the "S's").

now, I know snopes can't keep *every* thread, but am I missing something or is there no "archived" SLC on the old board?

I was looking for that old bathing a cat thread.

How old is it? If it was there when the board closed, it should still be there. Change the settings from "past 30 days" to "Show all posts."

If it was deleted before the board closed, then it's gone.

The bathing a cat thread that you started ("You stripped down?!")? That was gone long before the board closed. Threads that were more than a few months old in SLC Central forums were purged regularly to help free up resources. At any given time you typically couldn't find a thread older than 4-6 months in the SLC forum. Currently, the SLC doesn't have anything older than September 24, 2006.

thanks Jenn. Too bad too, I can look back on it now and laugh. I learned and have been bathing these kitties once a month or so.
