Nelson has discovered the nice cool spot directly under the ceiling fan.

Bonsai Kitten

One of the signs of autumn in Australia ...
Josie enjoying warmth, sprawled on the bed.
(I remember similar photos last year.)
She is quite the relaxed feline.

& Good for Nelson to discover the cool spot.
He is a handsome boy.

Well, we have grieved for Groot and Artoo for a while, and BB has been missing having a companion. So I'm here to introduce Yoda!
mug shot by Christopher Rose, on Flickr
Yoda is 16 weeks old, and was rescued from a puppy mill that was going to euthanize him when they didn't sell him young enough. He is, to the best of our knowledge, an English Mastiff. He was 33 pounds the last time we weighed him, but he keeps sucking down every bit of food he can get and still has his ribs showing.
The picture was taken at the Puppy Play Date, where they take puppies from 10-16 weeks old to socialize with others. He was the biggest in his group by a couple of inches - the next closest was a German Shepard mix. We call it his mugshot picture. BB-8 is very happy to have a new friend in the house, although occasionally she gives us a look that we read as 'why do I have to babysit the puppy?'

Woof! Welcome, Yoda!

-- by the time it's time for his graduation picture, they're not going to be able to fit his pawprint on that card, are they?

Bonsai Kitten

Not my pets, but they will be someone's pets someday!

I just got back from visiting TEN KITTENS! Two momcats gave birth within a few weeks, and now they are co-parenthing 10 adorable little bundles of joy! The momcats will be given the "TNR" treatment and the kittens will all be adopted out.

Pics, to avoid tiny little 'splodeys!

Nelson's like "What? It's perfectly comfortable to sleep with your head hanging over the edge."

NEW KITTEN! NEW KITTEN! NEW KITTEN!

Here he is, so he won't go 'splodey so soon after us getting him...

Folks, meet Marmalade.

At a friend's house there were two momcats who produced 10 kittens, and my husband fell in love with the only ginger one.

We had misgivings about introducing him to Ash, since Ash is 9 years old and has been King Kitty his whole life. There have been staredowns, hisses, and growls, but this is day 3 and things seem to be going very well.

The cats keep to themselves in different parts of the house, but there have been close interactions that resulted in nothing more than a hiss from Ash, but things are getting better.

Marmalade! You've been reincarnated!

-- actually my Marmalade was paler yellow. Also not entirely sane; but greatly beloved.

He lived nineteen years and five months. May your Marmalade live happily that long, or longer, with you.

Most photo sharing sites are blocked at work, so none of the pictures in this thread show up when I view it there. We were luck he didn't go 'splodey before I able to get home and see the picture of him.

With any luck, your kitties will either be as thick as thieves in a few days or in the least, come to some understanding. I’m still not sure if my Minnie-kitty likes Roxy-kitty, but she has more or less accepted that she’s part of the pack. They do wrestle and chase each other, which probably does both of them some good. Minnie’s just all “You damn kid...” about Roxy at times. I keep trying to sell her on the perks of having a partner-in-crime/patsy but I don’t know how well that’ll work.

Cheer

Negotiations are ongoing...

What happened here was Marmie was having a case of the Crazy Kitties (aka The Zoomies as per the Kitten Academy) and nearly ran into Ash.

At first, moments before this picture, there were arched backs but no flattened ears, hissing, or growling. Marmalade backed up and Ash just stared at him and continued on into the living room.

Fingers crossed!

Marmalade is so cute (and I love that name).

Our old boy, Hammy, has been reduced to what my daughter calls "perfunctory hissing" at Doodle.

In that huge pic up there that I couldn't get to resize, you can see Marmalade as a squirmy!

Looks to me like this is almost certainly going to work out OK; though whether as best buddies or tolerated slightly-grumbled-at housemates may remain to be seen.

Of course, even best buddies grumble at each other occasionally.

Our cats get along pretty well, until they get hangry.
