Florida A Star Player Accused, and a Flawed Rape Investigation

Quote:
Early on the morning of Dec. 7, 2012, a freshman at Florida State University reported that she had been raped by a stranger somewhere off campus after a night of drinking at a popular Tallahassee bar called Potbelly’s.

As she gave her account to the police, several bruises began to appear, indicating recent trauma. Tests would later find semen on her underwear.

For nearly a year, the events of that evening remained a well-kept secret until the woman’s allegations burst into the open, roiling the university and threatening a prized asset: Jameis Winston, one of the marquee names of college football.

Another incident, possibly the most egregious thus far, of how we as a culture value some young men, and how we as a culture don't value some young women.

I wasn't surprised to see nothing come of the investigation when I first heard about it. I am glad to see NyT call bs on it with plenty of supporting information.

Pretty mind boggling. But it seems like par for the course in many of those big name sports universities.

Doesn't calling it a flawed rape investigation carry the implication that there was actually some investigating done? Because it looks entirely too much like the officer in charge of that case was making a point not to investigate anything.

Well, he did pick up the phone at least once. So you can't say he did NO investigating.

Maybe we can agree that he did 0.1% investigating?
