Chicken Bear witness to the terrifying 'big chicken' that's scaring the internet

Mr. S (and my BIL) said looks like Foghorn Leghorn (he's actually a different breed).

I thought Muppet. The legs look like there's a human in there.

I saw a comment that it looked like 2 chickens in a chicken suit.

I'm not all that surprised to discover that much of the internet doesn't realize that there are multiple breeds of chickens and that they're not all the same size.

(For that matter, the ones in the grocery store a) are generally not full grown and b) have had their feathers removed, which is going to make them look smaller -- think what happens when a long-haired cat gets shaved or soaking wet.)

There's also very little in that picture to show scale. Those might be standard size cinder blocks, in which case the chicken does look to be larger than a cinder block, but that's not all that huge. I wonder whether some of the people responding think that the structure must be large enough for a human to stand up inside? Many small coops aren't anywhere near that big.

It's a Brahma chicken, which can range up to 2 feet tall and weigh about 12 lbs.

That's a big Twinkie.

Twitter informs me there are a whole bunch of rarer breeds of farm animals, some of which are even endangered. The quest for more efficient and economical meat animals has put a lot of genetic diversity at risk.

I guess we're just as bad with farm animals as we are with plants.

NB. don't ask my Twitter feed about corn or potatoes.

Yup. That's a genuine major problem with both farm animals and crop plants.

Home gardeners and small scale farmers may (or may not) wind up saving us -- there's quite a movement on to try to keep up diversity for its own sake; not to mention that the limited number of varieties available in large-scale production often don't include the ones that do best in specific locations, or that taste best.

The bear is the witness. He's the one holding the camera, duh!

Chicken

A Brahman chicken. I was going to say Orpington. I've seen many of the latter at the county fair.
All I can say about the video is: drumstick lovers rejoice!
