Univ. of Michigan never closes for weather due to a lawsuit

U-M officials have said previously the fact the school is heavily residential plays into the decision, because students would still need to be fed and have other services even if classes are cancelled.

This was the case at my university. They did cancel evening classes a few times, which confused us, because they meant only the evening classes for the part-time students (students pas the typical student age), but not every class that evening. So I still had physics lab that evening, though evening classes were canceled.

You can understand the confusion. Worse, was that it was my first year at school and it was only that year that we had evening labs, due to restructuring of the core science courses. So it seemed even the school had forgotten that resident students had evening classes.

Msu has closed for the 7th day in history, UofM is planning to be open tomorrow.

I spoke too soon. University of Michigan just announced that all classes will be canceled for the next 2 days. This is totally unprecedented.
