Fact-checking, of course, is the fastest, most accurate way to solidify any form of "information." Then there's "Snopes," the online service that brands anything either false or truthful. It debunks or confirms claims on virtually every level. Many a rumor has been quickly shot down by Snopes' calling it a hoax. It's a fascinating operation.
