The sign was way up the side of a building (three or four floors up), and I probably wouldn't have noticed it at all had the apparent word "clowns" not caught my eye.

Despite this thread being here for a while, I only just read the topic title as "Real-life headaches / blurbs you thought you saw".

An ad on facebook for "Autumn Dresses" which I skimmed as "Autism Dresses." In the split second it took me to correct it, I was picturing dresses made of special materials designed to provide tactile comfort for folks with sensory integration issues...

What I saw: House members propose mouse riders on EPA spending.

What it really said: House members propose more riders on EPA spending.

What I saw on a sign in the local grocery store: We Have the Best Brains.

What it really said: We Have the Best BRANDS.

Could be taken several ways, but since it is Halloween, they were obviously expecting some Zombies out for the night.

Were you a Zombie out for the night?

Considering that I spent all day in bed with a bad migraine, that is a possibility. Still wondering where the junk food craving came from.

When I was a lab assistant at a high school are was trying to find animal body parts for the senior biology classes I may well have read it as brains instead of brands myself.

Well that's my story.

Moose

I held off on posting this, and it's probably still too soon.

I could have sworn the headline I saw was "Tragic Moose Attack in Quebec" but the word was Mosque.

I posted something in another thread but it's more apt here:

Not a topic from the board, but today I misread a CNN caption as: "God bypasses democrats, approves Trump nominees." GOP obviously. If I had any reason to stop believing in God, that would've been it. ROFL.

Blow Your Top

This is one I actually did see, from CNN today:
Report finds chemicals in one-third of fast food packaging

That is a very disturbing headline because it doesn't say what the other 2/3rds are made of. The food may be packaged in pure blobs of energy or it could be something more sinister, supernatural matter, for example. With no chemicals.

D'oh!

And for some reason my mind added the r to the last word in this blurb. Twice.
Quote:
Senate Republicans voiced confidence Wednesday [...] as Democrats appeared divided over how to handle the prick.
I was like, I can't believe they wrote that! Oh... pick.

On the other hand, if God would hurry up and rapture them already, that would at least get them out of the government.

Fright

I just saw a T-Mobile commercial with text on the screen.
What I thought it said:

2 Lines
Unlimited Data
$100/Month(with Autopsy)

What it actually said:
(With Autopay)

Read This!

Grim search for missing resumes...

My husband is seeking a new position, and since it has been over a decade since his last job search, he was having trouble finding the file for his last resume edit on his computer (he eventually found it). So of course I misread the headline on first glance. Sadly, the rest of the headline made it clearer:

Grim search for missing resumes after flood in Colombia kills at least 200

Crash

From the homepage of the news-talk station I listen to:

NCAA Intervenes in Consent Decree.

Me: What's that have to do with college sports?

The REAL headline: NAACP Intervenes.....

Oooooh! That makes way more sense!

Throw Tomato

Headline I just saw on local news-talk site:
7 Tomatoes Confirmed During DC Storm

What????

Oh. It's 7 Tornadoes Confirmed During DC Storm.

That makes a lot more sense.

Headline on radio station website: Van Hollen Announces $86.3M In Port Funding

What I thought it was: Van Halen Announces $86.3M In Port Funding
