Shaggy, because sometimes, Scooby had to face his fears to get Scrappy out of trouble...

Neither. They are not cowardly. They are, however, paranoid, as the excessive amounts of marijuana that both clearly partake of can make one. This is made clear in the fact that both can, will, and do overcome this paranoia with the promise of snacks.

I think Harvey Birdman, Attorney-at-Law proved otherwise. Or did he? I was distracted by Old Man Backoff.

Back off!

Shaggy is the more cowardly. Scooby is mostly taking his cues from Shaggy since Shaggy is his main person.

It generally seems that Mary Ann is the crowd favorite, but what about the fellows?

Skipper, Gilligan, or the Professor?

Definitely the Professor. Skipper is too old (well too old for me when I watched this show back in the day), Gilligan is, well, Gilligan but the Professor is pretty cute and he's smart. Oh sure, not smart enough to actually get them off the island but we won't go there .

Or is Scooby the more cowardly because, well, Shaggy is a tall but scrawny hippy, whereas Scooby is a freakin' HUGE Great Dane?

A dog that big would be intimidating as a tank if he'd just act more like a dog!

Some of the Great Danes I've met would challenge that idea.

More quotable film: Holy Grail or Princess Bride?

In my house, The Princess Bride. In my gaming group, it's about 50/50.

In our house, it is a toss-up between Anchorman and Blades of Glory.

What about Mr. Howell?

For the quotable choice...Princess Bride for me as I never really cared for Holy Grail (Life of Brian is my fave Monty Python movie).

Holy Grail, but Princess Bride is a close second.

Princess Bride in our house, although it's second to O Brother Where Art Thou?

Gilligan's Island: I always thought the Skipper was a fairly good leader with a good head on his shoulders, hampered by the gang of incompetents around him. So, him.

Quotable: about 50/50 for those two movies, although we quote from a LOT of source material around here, so between those two, they might comprise about 5% of the household quotes.

That's like picking between Shaggy, Scooby, or Fred. The real question is Ponch or John?

Princess Bride, hands down.

The professor: he's come up with lots of handy stuff, even if it didn't get them off the island.

Most quotable? Tie! but in our group, it's a three way with Star Wars.

"You have failed me for the last time!"
"Inconceivable!"
"niiiiiiiiiiiii!"

ETA: Ponch... come on, who wouldn't choose someone who's got a nickname over someone who doesn't!

As father of two daughters, who love The Princess Bride, there I have a bias. However, even without that factor, I would still say that The Princess Bride is still more quotable, particularly here in the US.

I'm not sure us Americans easily grasp the kind of British humor in The Holy Grail as well as people across the pond. It took me some time to understand and appreciate the genius of Monty Python (even the name, Monty Python, is an euphemism that I didn't immediately pick up until The Full Monty came out). Of course, many hilarious segments in The Holy Grail can keep one in stiches and is indeed full of memorable quotes I do hear on occasion.

Clue and other characters

But of the two options offered, I'd go with Grail. While I generally find myself quoting Princess Bride more often, Grail seems to have a greater variety of quotes.
