The chorus, and just the chorus, from Green Fields of France. If you have never heard it, go look it up. It's a moving, mournful song about WW1. Some of the lyrics nearly bring me to tears...

"Did they beat the drum slowly?
Did they play the fife lowly?
Did they sound the death march as they lower'd ye down?
Did the band play the Last Post in chorus?
Did the pipes play the Flowers of the Forest?"
Strange. I'm sure I only saw that listed as Willie McBride on albums. Oh - I just checked and it's also called No Man's Land.

As for my earworm - would anyone like U + Ur Hand by P!nk?

For the past day or so, I've had a jumble of the Looney Tunes/Merrie Melodies themes("The Merry-Go-Round Broke Down" and "Merrily We Roll Along")stuck in my head, with a side order of "This Is It" thrown in for good measure. Anybody want 'em?

Thanks to the Goggle home ad I have the chorus to "Take Me Home Country Road" by John Denvor stuck in my head. The thing is the ad only plays the music and I have the words. My parents played it a lot...in the '70's, so we it has been lurking back there for a while.

Yet I struggle with what I did yesterday, due to some health issues.

"Take me home, country road to the place I belong, West Virgina, Mountain Mumma take me howm country road"

For the past several days I've had this going through my head:

You put the lime in the coconut,
And drink 'em both together.
You put the lime in the coconut,
And you drink 'em both up.

If I Could Turn Back Time
If I could find a way
I'd take back those words that hurt you
And you'd stay

Thank you, mi esposa.

Australia Everybody, this town, this world, are you big enough?

This has been repeating in my brain the last week or so, especially the second and third parts.

The first time I heard this I thought it wasn't very good. The second time I heard this and ever since I think it's one of the best music videos ever.

Heh. This is my favorite comment in the comments section for the video:
Quote:
i cant tell if you're joking or not...
I've been listening to his other songs and I totally understand this feeling. I also like the following from the Guardian's review of his current album (note: NSFW):
Quote:
It also applies remarkably well to a certain strain of Australian performers whose tongue remains firmly in their cheek even as they perform with genuine, painstaking, straightfaced sincerity. They are not comedy acts, even when what they do is often hilarious. They are not novelty acts, not least because they’re exquisitely good musicians and songwriters. But they aren’t afraid to let their audiences know that they’re enjoying themselves, or to do something fun just because it’s hideously uncool.
I'm also happy to say that the number of views for the video have more than doubled over the past week.

How did I manage to miss that Crowded House had reformed? And split up and reformed again...? They've released two whole albums that I didn't even know about!

And if Finn wasn’t enough music royalty, Jimmy Barnes’ trademark screams lift Big Enough from its pumpin’ EDM beatz (and the most cringeworthy rattling off of countries and continents since Bowie and Jagger’s god-awful cover of Dancing in the Street).
Hey, I liked that bit, even though it's deliberately cheesy. I love Lemon Jelly's Ramblin' Man, whose lyrics basically consist of a long list of place-names recited in a lugubrious tone by John Standing. I like that, as well as glamorous international cities, it includes small English towns and villages. I've never heard anybody enjoy saying "Angmering" so much. Angggmering. I say it to myself now, every time I go through Amberley on the train on the way back to my parents. (Because I always get them muddled up and so Amberley reminds me of Angmering, even though Angmering is on the other line and I don't usually go that way).

My Pandora station is a massive breeding pit for earworms. It's an earworm mill!

So two days ago it imparted unto me Strange Magic by ELO... and, not so strangely but perhaps magically, it is still stuck in my head...

Chicken

Oh, remember me, my darlin', when spring is in the air
And the bald-headed birds are whisperin' everywhere
When you see them walking southward in their dirty underwear
That's the Tennessee Bird Walk.

Thanks Weird Al!

ETA: I guess it's better than the Hogan's Heroes theme or the MST3K theme.
