Considering I work at a college, flat beds on a shuttle used by students wouldn't be THAT peculiar.

I was in my backyard a little bit ago and noticed a flashing green light on my roof. There appears to be a drone parked up there.

Did we finish exhausting the subject about whether a drone was a valid target for some good ol' fashion "right to bear arms" practise?

Also, I hear Elon Musk made some Boring Flamethrowers available, so that's another option for getting it down from there.

No, the "flamethrower" Musk is selling only has a 10 foot range. It's a propane torch.

Too late, the owner came by to retrieve it a little while later.

Which is kind of weird - people are defending this decision to sell "flamethrowers" with rifle grips and so on by saying "for flip's sake, they're not real flamethrowers! Real flamethrowers squirt flaming napalm at least three times as far as the silly yellow flame that Elon Musk's version can reach, and that's assuming you don't turn his into a blowtorch before chasing people with it! If you do that, it has an even shorter range!"

Not to say that we shouldn't be encouraged to chase each other with blowtorches at parties for a laugh, but the semantics do seem to be missing the point, really. Maybe it's another of these US American things that the rest of us find hard to understand, like the right to shoot each other for safety.

I have no idea.

But the same thing is available in most farming supply stores for about $30, so anyone willing to pay the $500 asking price for Musk's is just throwing away money.

I mean, you could hurt or kill someone with one of these things, but it'd take more effort than getting a handgun. Mostly it's Just silly that anyone thinks it's a good purchase.

I'm pretty sure it would be lot easier to get the "flamethrower" than the gun. Indeed, even a felon can buy a flamethrower.

This evening I saw a car with Hawaii license plates on the road in California.

I saw a Jeep parked on the street with the steering wheel on the right. I guess it could belong to a rural mail carrier or something.

Money on the sidewalk. Grant you, it was only $2--one just south of the closed tavern (it was 5:45 am) and one just north.

Exactly, that's why it's not just a flamethrower... it's a Boring Flamethrower!

Also... on these terms
Quote:
-Fire extinguisher sold separately (for exorbitant amounts of money)
-Taxes and shipping will be added at checkout
-Additional customs fees may apply for international orders because of laws
-International customers can receive a full refund if not happy with said fees
-Before shipping, aspiring flamethrower aficionados will be sent a terms and conditions rhyme for review and acceptance
-Starts shipping in spring
-May not be used on Boring Company decorative lacquered hay bales or Boring Company dockside munitions warehouses

You may know already, but it is likely an old US Mail Jeep. Where I lived for a time as a kid, in a mixed suburban/rural area, everyone had roadside mailboxes on posts. The mail carrier would drive a right hand drive Jeep. People could buy these Jeeps at auction when they were retired from service. We'd occasionally see someone driving one around without the US Mail livery.

I can't remember for sure, but I think we were, for a time, on a Rural Route, and our mail carrier used her own regular car with some special equipment added. Then we got switched to a regular route with our house number, etc., and she got to drive a US Mail Jeep.

Actually, no, it wasn't. This was a relatively new Jeep, no more than a couple of years old, and IIRC the Mail Jeeps haven't been manufactured since the 1980s at least.

The current fleet of USPS trucks is mostly Grumman LLVs, which are coming to the end of their useful lives.

I saw a bald eagle today. Maybe not the oddest thing to see. Just don't see them that often, unless I drive out about the lake.

A terms and conditions rhyme would indeed be an odd thing to see.

Do they actually have one? or is that a typo? and if it's a typo, what's it supposed to be?

IMO, because of the specificity of certain of the other items (Boring Company decorative lacquered hay bales), I think they wrote exactly what they meant to write.
