Comment: I have a comment on your article about Procter and Gamble airing
on the Donahue Show, if this never happened I wonder why I sat in my
living room and watched it on tv. I don't know why they are saying it
didn't air because it most certainly did. I was appalled and stopped
buying P&G products. It's their choice to worship whomever

Why is it that people keep claiming to see things that never happened?

Comment: The fact that "under God" was left out of the the pledge of
allegiance on a PEPSI can IS TRUE. I never take the time out to respond
to any rumors on the internet, however, this is too important to me. I
never dink Dr. Pepper. I was headed back home from errands and had
stopped by either the CostCutters or QUick Chek ner my house. I was at a
red light and took a few sips from my DIET Pepsi. I had opted for this
because the store did not have Diet Coke (my usual). Upon admring the
Statue of Liberty I took the time to read the pledge. I almost dropped
the can because the OBVIOUS OMISSION of the profound words. After
suffering through 911, it left a true distaste in my mouth. I did not
even finish drinking the soda. I kick myself for not having the insight
of taking a picture of it. I just threw it out.
FACT: I Never Drink Dr. Pepper.
Therefore, I do not know if Dr. Pepper left out
"under God".
FACT: The store did not have Diet Coke (my usual). I definitely KNOW
that I would never replace a Coke with a Dr. Pepper - because they taste
very differently. I definitely KNOW that THE CULPRIT IS PEPSI. I threw
the can out with much distaste. I only wish I had had the foresight of
taking a picture of it Denying this makes PEPSI a FRAUDUlent Company. Let
them admit it.

Comment: I personally was watching the night Lee Marvin talked on the
TOnight SHow. He did in fact mention IWO, his wound, and Bob Keeshan.
Was he lying ?

Comment: RE: Lee Marvin & Bob Keeshan (Capt. Kangaroo)at Iwo Jima

You are totally in error. In fact, Lee Marvin personally stated just the
opposite on Johnny Carson's TONIGHT show. (I watched that particular
program myself) Bob Keeshan was Lee Marvin's Marine Gunnery Sargeant and
both men won the Navy Cross during the course of that engagement.
Confirmation may be had from the Legion of Honor Society.

Wait, so the fact that "Under God" was left off the can is the true cause for the bad taste of Diet Colas? Oh man, I guess it's back to the drawing board for these guys then.

You are reporting this as an urban legend. But I saw it with my own eyes,
(and heard it with my own ears too)!

I grew up in Madison WI and used to watch the Bozo show on WGN,(I thing
that's the call letters)the cable station out of Chicago. I remember a
young kid who (happened to be black if anyone will search for this
episode), missed a bucket with the ping-pong ball then exclaimed, "SHIT"
then Bozo said, "that's a Bozo No-no, then the kid called Bozo another bad
word which I don't remember as clearly. The next time I saw the show it
was not live or on some sort of delay as I recall. That would have been
in the early 80's.

Glad to hear it, since dinking Dr. Pepper is illegal in most of the continental United States.

Guess that's why in Commie-loving God-hating, Gay-worshipping places like Canada diet drinks ( and Dr Pepper) have always left a bed taste in my mouth.

Comment: Regarding the rumor of Groucho Marx telling a man or woman with 20
children that "I love my cigar but I take it out every once in a while",
before ever having read or heard anything about this quip, I watched a TV
special on Groucho years and years ago which featured clips from the "You
Bet Your Life" TV show. I distinctly remember in the sequence of bits one
featuring a Latino contestant whose name was something like "Gonzalez
Gonzalez" or somesuch and Groucho ribbing him about this, and then the
legendary line. Now, I can't recall if he delivered it to the Latino or
to someone in the subsequent clip but I distinctly remember hearing and
seeing it. The audience roared.

Given that I saw this independent of and prior to any knowledge of the
existence of this clip or its surrounding rumors, I'd have to say: bypass
Groucho and his shifting memory and go to the tape. It exists and has
been aired.

Comment: 'Cram it Clown'.

As a child, here in San Diego, I was an avid watcher of Bozo and I
remember to this day seeing the show where the boy replies to Bozo and
says, 'Cram it clown' to him. This is NOT an Urban Legend.

Re: The Hands Of God

Hello,

I was just wondering why 2 pictures of the "Hands Of
God" never even mentioned once about the little child in the lower right
hand corner. Now I don't think the photographer could have made that! If
so...then he's good!!!

Has anyone payed attention to that? The child is beautiful in the clouds.

Comment: THIS IS IN RESPONSE TO YOUR ARTICLE ABOUT GROUCHO'S REMARK,
"WELL, I LOVE MY CIGAR, BUT I TAKE IT OUT EVERY ONCE IN A WHILE". I
ACTUALLY SAW THIS EVENT TAKE PLACE ON TV WHEN I WAS IN HIGH SCHOOL WHICH
WAS BETWEEN 1959 AND 1962. I WAS WATCHING THE PROGRAM WITH MY DAD IN OUR
DEN IN GAINESVELLE, TX. GROUCHO WAS INTERVIEWING A MEXICAN MAN WHOSE NAME
WAS SUPPOSEDLY GONZALES GONZALES WHO HAD 5 CHILDREN. THEY IMMEDIATELY RAN
A COMMERICAL AFTER THE COMMENT.

Comment: Lee Marvin story- I saw the Johnny Carson show in which Lee
Marvin made those statements. Since Johnny, Lee, and Bob are dead they
can't defend themselves/ however, at the time that Lee Marvin made those
statements many Iwo Jima vets were still alive. No one ever disputed his
claim..and Marine vets would have, if they were bogus. Lee Marvin had
nothing to gain and everything to lose if his claims were not true. I
think that we need to leave our heroes stand as they are. I would share a
foxhole with Lee Marvin!
