Spit Take The funny things that happen in church

Quote:
Have you ever heard that story about the LDS chorister named Hope who valiantly fulfilled her calling even as her pregnancy pushed well into its ninth month, energetically waving her arm around in time with the sacrament meeting hymns with a big smile on her face?

And how one of the hymns that day was "We Thank Thee, O God, for a Prophet"? And how, when the congregation came to the line in the second verse that goes "there is hope smiling brightly before us, and we know that deliv'rance is nigh," everybody in the room busted out laughing and could barely finish the hymn for all the rolling around in the aisles?

Chalk it up as Mormon urban legend, right there with Steve Martin's membership and Spencer W. Kimball having been the model for Yoda.

True story - my uncle served his mission in a spanish speaking country. A new sister missionary, still a little unsure of her bilingual prowess, was asked to introduce herself at the pulpit. She haltingly told the congregation that she was embarrassed by the bishop (because she felt she didn't know the language well enough).

Well, anyone who knows anything about false cognitives may be able to venture a guess...

I don't know the word for "embarrassed", and neither did she. "Embarazar", however much it may sound right, means...

"to impregnate".

Yeah....
