Chicken Thunder stops eggs from hatching

Comment: My stepson was told at the Ionia Fair in Michigan that thunder
separates the yolk & white of eggs & prevents their hatching. I assume
this is an old wives tale.

So thunder stops the egg from developing? I'm not ovistist, but I'm pretty sure that an egg that is ready to hatch has no yolk or white left.

May be it keeps the rooster away from the hens? If they're all hunkered down, it may have a grain of truth? [just extrapolating here]
