Well, not really. They had already been reducing investment in the country and at that time said they would pull out completely but Coke never actually left South Africa. That's why they dominated that market for some time after (and probably still do I guess). Both companies tried to look Anti-Apartheid as much as possible: 1 so they could keep both markets, 2 to avoid political and marketing pressure in the US and other markets. But it was Coke that succeeded in keeping the SA market.
