United States Two recent stories on the decline of the US

One from January and one from April.

The US is no longer a full democracy:

Quote:
The U.S. has been demoted from a full democracy to a flawed democracy for the first time, according to the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU).

America's score fell to 7.98 last year from 8.05 in 2015, below the 8.00 threshold for a full democracy, the EIU announced in a report on Wednesday. That put the world's largest economy on the same footing as Italy, a country known for its fractious politics.
And, the US has regressed into a developing nation:

Quote:
America is regressing to have the economic and political structure of a developing nation, an MIT economist has warned.

Peter Temin says the world'sí largest economy has roads and bridges that look more like those in Thailand and Venezuela than those in parts of Europe.

Mr Temin used a model, which was created by Nobel Prize winner Arthur Lewis and designed to understand developing nations, to describe how far inequalities have progressed in the US.
I am taking a military course right now that deals extensively with how the military is involved in government and the development of governmental and military policy. These are a couple of things that would throw up yellow flags from a military perspective. Democracy for how our military would be perceived as it is employed and deployed. Developing nation for where our priorities would like when it comes to supporting soldiers etc, and levels of funding.

I don't think we are seeing the toppling of the giant (there is nothing to replace it right now), but some things need to change, that is for sure.
