Default Announcements Forum

I noticed the announcements forum didn't make the jump. While most snopesters will be able to use SLC Central for things like meet-ups I was wondering where announcements from snopes will now be made. Am I missing something?

I am also interested as to how we will receive announcements from snopes since we don't have and announcements forum on the new board.

Spit Take

Maybe snopes decided not to have an "Announcements" forum since, apparently, nobody ever read the announcements.

I used to post to another board that used vBulletin, and when the mods had something they wanted everyone on the board to know they stickied it simultaneously to the top of every forum on the board. Perhaps that's what snopes means to do here.

Computer

vBulletin provides a mechanism for displaying moderator announcements that doesn't require the creation of an additional forum. Some of the early testers might recall having seen a test announcement shortly after this board was set up.

Yep- those are global announcements. The mods can also sticky an announcement to one forum only. Rather nifty feature.

Would a stickied announcement show up on Today's Posts? I tend not to look at the individual forums (fora?).
