Comment: Dear Snopes, I had read several times since the 90s that Michael
J. Fox's middle name was left up to him to choose, and that when he was six years old, he chose "Jello." I recently wondered about that and looked it up on wikipedia, which has no reference of this and a completely different explanation of his middle initial. However, the jello story still exists out there if you Google it. My question is, how did this urban legend even start circulating? Thanks! |

Actually, he wanted to choose that name, but there was already a Michael Jello Fox in SAG, so he opted for Michael Jazzhands Fox.

Because people make up stupid nfbsk all the time. Sometimes because they know no better, sometimes as a joke and they really don't expect anyone to be stupid enough to believe it.

As an homage to Jello Biafra?

Actually, I would love to know if the J actually does stand for something (and yes, I am aware that his real middle name is Andrew). |

That's been the case for a long time. If children can legally work, then why shouldn't they be eligible for union membership?

SAG-AFTRA, as it's now known, has an entire website devoted to young performers, including information on the Coogan Law, which the SAG Young Performers Committee has been instrumental in fine-tuning over the years.
