Icon23 M&M's gets a trendy new filling: Caramel

Milk chocolate, peanut and peanut butter are the stalwart M&M's flavors, but soon there will be a new option vying for your taste buds' attention.

For the first time in the 75-year history of the brand, the candy company is embracing a caramel filling that will become a permanent member of the M&M family.

I love caramel and will probably like this, especially if the caramel is close to the consistency of a Milk Dud. Terrible for the teeth, I know, but I love those things.

Much better than pumpkin, although there may not be sufficient numbers of pumpkins produced for an M & Ms run.

I will like these speaking as someone who has never seen an M & Ms bag that wasn't a single serving.

I guess a single serving of an M&M would be one candy? Yeah like it's possible to eat just one.

CalorieKing lists a serving of M&M's as 1 ounce, or about 28 pieces.

Mars lists it as 1.5 ounces (about 30-35 pieces).

It's a treat--not eating it on a regular basis makes it all the more enjoyable when you do eat it.
I would try this--I love caramel.

So is it -car-mel or cara-mel? Let the debate begin!

It is car-mel when it is in or part of something. "The new M&Ms are chocolate and car-mel in a candy shell."

It is car-a-mel when it is itself. "Wurther's Originals are a famous brand of car-a-mels."

So it shall be written, so it shall be done.

ETA: If it helps, imagine me wearing a big, furry hat when I typed the above.

I'm pretty sure "Carmel" is a place name - "Mount Carmel". Pronouncing "caramel" as such may be a regional/dialectical or something, fine, but I'm pretty sure caramel should in baseline English be pronounced with the middle "a".

It's kind of like "nuclear". The US military and everyone south and/or west of the northeast USA may always pronounce it "nook-you-ler", but it's still actually pronounced "noo-klee-arr".

I don't give flyin' fig how you pronounce it. All you have to do is say it either way. I'm there. Oh, and it's car mel but sounds like carmuhl.

Psst. (From the article in the OP).

While this news will surely be cheered by candy fans, don't get too excited yet. Caramel M&M's won't hit the market until May, 2017.

It's only spelled caramel when it's spelled correctly.

Peanut butter a stalwart flavor? PB is still a newcomer like all the others that aren't milk chocolate and peanut.
My favorites are the dark chocolate and crispy. I'm sorry to see there was no candy corn this year. It tasted more like white chocolate, which I like.
