No Report: ‘Bikini Hiker’ Freezes To Death After Mountain Fall

Gigi Wu, a Taiwanese internet star famous for hiking mountains, has been found dead after falling into a gorge 30 meters deep (100 feet), the island’s state media reported. Wu, 36, fell from Taiwan’s Jupen Mountain on Saturday, January 19, and was found by authorities on Monday.

Judging by the size of the pack in the photo, she carried quite a bit of gear with her. Was she wearing a bikini when she fell, or did she just put bikinis on long enough to take a picture on each hike, but hike in more ordinary mountain clothing?

If she was injured and unable to move for two days in very cold weather before they got to her, she might have died of hypothermia even if she had winter clothes on.

I don't think that is a picture taken on the day she fell to her death. She didn't hike in a bikini, but would change her clothes at the summit.

One of the news accounts I found indicated that she was found fully clothed and with a space blanket over her. Her satellite phone must have died making it very difficult to find her.

Depending on how narrow the walls of the gorge were, it might have had trouble getting a signal even if it was in working order.

The article says she called a friend after the fall.

And that's what I get for reading while distracted with other things.

To add information I read. She was able to call after your fall and injury, but weather prevented rescue personal from getting to her in time.
