Comment: Every time I boot up my PC a box appears on screen of which I am
very suspicious. I tried to photograph it to send you since I do not want
to try printing it or taking any action with it except to 'X' it away, but
cannot get a clear photo of it . It reads as follows :-

( Centered, blue background bar )
htpatch.exe Unable to locate component X

(Below that)

This application has failed to start because WINIO.dil was not found.
Re-installing the application may fix this problem

This is followed by a large luscious red button X to the left inviting a
push and a bar OK also inviting a push.

I have not dared to push either but using the small unobtrusive X at the
top right corner I get rid of it. Every bloody day ! The computer
functions quite adequately thereafter. Do you think this is a try on to
get me to download something unpleasant ?

"Luscious?" "Inviting a push?"

Is my mind a little too dirty?

Comment: Yes, I was wondering if anyone has any problems with up-dating
microsofts automactic up-dates. I have downloaded the updates twice and
both times it has cleared my registry and I have to reboot with the CD.

Comment: My son thought he was helping me when he downloaded Spyware Guard
2008. I've deleted it from the recycle bin a dozen times. I've removed it
from the add/remove program. I've run Ad-aware and my anti-virus program.
I cannot run housecall. It pops up every couple minutes and has messed up
my use of IE and even messes with my e-mail. Do you have a removal tool?

Comment: I right clicked on the Snopes.com logo on your web page which
pulled up a menu. I selected "Set as desktop item", thinking it would act
like an Icon for Snopes. That was not the case. I now have a 2" X 1-1/2"
or so Snopes Logo on my desktop that I can't get rid of. How can I remove
it?
Please help!

Comment: How do I remove the Snopes.com logo from my desktop?

I thought I was saving the page in my favorites, instead it is saved on
top of my desktop background. I click on it but nothing happens. Can you
help me remove it?

It cannot be removed. Instead cut out a piece of paper in the shape of our logo and color it to match your desktop. Simply tape the paper over the logo. Problem solved!

Comment: Last night my audio speakers were not working. There was a
foreign program that opened when I opened my ITunes to play a song from my
song list. I restored my speakers to the factory default settings. They
work now but every time I boot up my PC, I get a pop up window on my desk
top that says. "Sonic Focus needed to install audio drivers". But my
audio system is working. Is this a new type of spam? What is Sonic
Focus?
