John Bogle, the founder of the Vanguard Group who revolutionized investing by inventing the index fund, a product that gave Main Street investors a cheap way to gain broad exposure to the stock market, has died. He was 89.

He's always seemed to me like a Norman BorlaugJ type. One of those people who did lots of good but is basically unknown. Yeah, he didn't do as much good as Borlaug, so I get the comparison is off, but cutting on fees for investing helped a whole lot of people. Lots of us will have more comfortable retirements because of him. Cool guy.
