Neener, Neener Snopes tells the truth and nothing more

Q. Is Snopes.com an accurate source for information? I recently was told it's a liberal propaganda machine. I use that site regularly to check out rumors and hoaxes. If it's not reliable, is there some other trustworthy website to check things out?

People seem happy to use labels such as "liberal" or "conservative" as insults. If they don't like what you say, you must be a stooge for the (fill in the opposition group of your choice). It gets tiresome after a while.

Has anyone actually said: "Hey Snopes, you are wrong and here is the proof."

Yes, but the "proof" is typically some WorldNutDaily article long on insinuation but devoid of facts, or a barely comprehensible piece by a tinfoil-hatted "anybody can be a journalist" Examiner reporter.

But fiction is so much easier on the eyes than fact!

Or what the talk show I listen to called the Wing Nut Daily.

Damian, you're absolutely right: 'You're a stooge for Who/Whatever!' is getting tiresome.

Usually when I ask someone to provide documentation that snopes is wrong I don't get any reply.
