Well we've found ourselves with another kitty, an itty-bitty calico kitty. Boomer-Dog is a bundle of "Whatisthat?!" Not realizing that a 90 lb mutt might scare her. Our other calico, Minnie-kitty, seems apprehensive, not sure what to make of new kitty.

Kitty, which we have dubbed Roxy, is a stray found by a member of the congregation, so her age is something of a guess. I thought maybe eight weeks, but she is so tiny, I wonder. Tried googling but I'm still not sure. Obviously she's not a newborn--eyes are open, ears are popped, and she's walking free and easy--but I do wonder about her age.

I know I am committing a breach of board etiquette by posting a link, not a photo, but I couldn't figure out how to make it work. So I'll provide the link and pray for forgiveness of my sins. Click for cuteness here

WhereamIandwhatisgoingon?!

-- it's OK, Roxy, you've been rescued! Mouse will be good to you.

Mouse, with a kit that young a vet should be able to get a pretty good guess at the age by the teeth, I think.

GM, rather belatedly: there is a cat who knows exactly where she is; and is quite pleased about it, too.

Oh my goodness that picture makes me want to talk all squeaky and shrill and make squeeing noises. What a cutie. I was going to say something about having two calicos in one house, but I remember I did once, and fortunately only one of them was . . . imperious.

GM, your kitty does look very contented in that pic.

Thought I'd provide another picture of Roxy-Kitty for everyone to squeal over. Kitty is getting settled in. First few days, she was so spooked, she would only go outside my room to get into the laundry room, which had her food and water. Now she's running around and sprinting and being all spirited. Minnie-Kitty hisses at her on occasion, but she seems to have more or less accepted her as part of the pride. Keep telling Minnie that there are all kinds of perks to having a partner in crime. Give Roxy-Kitty the benefit of your years of experience and you two can be an unstoppable duo.

Though you probably already were, since you're cats and by now, the species has learned that the Upright Thumbbeasts are suckers for cats. Sometimes I wonder if cats are as smart as we are, but decided, "Y'know, I could build civilization or I could sucker those hairless apes into doing it for me, giving me more time to lie around in sunbeams and sleep." If that's the case, well-played, cats.

Confirming that the cat is, in fact, out of the bag.

I suspect that, barring human intervention, that particular cat is going to be in that bag quite shortly.

Hello Kitty

I've mentioned how Ash likes to go out on our screened-in side porch. Here he is enjoying a lovely early summer morning.

I tried to get him to look at the camera... kissy noises, whistles, calling his name, saying "kitty kitty!"... nope...

Yesterday Ash was pawing at the side window in our home office, crouched down, ears back. Normally he only does that when he sees another cat outside in the yard. Going to investigate to see the other kitty myself, I found quite a different critter had gotten his attention.

That little bird (if you look closely you can see it through the window) sat out there hopping around and flitting its wings for several minutes. I don't think it could see Ash, but he sure could see it!

Josie Rose pretty much never naps under the covers but I left my doona in a big bundle today and she made her own doona fort inside it.

Photobucket now charges for the ability to post images you upload to it on other sites, such as this forum.

The performance of the site had been deteriorating for a couple of years now anyway. It had become slow, clunky, and clumsy. I honestly think they were doing it on purpose to free accounts to try and get those users to "upgrade" to a paid account. Something I refused to do.

One of my housemates just moved out and either my cat really misses him or she wants to take over the lease on his room because she just goes and sits in there every now and then:

The other night I found her just sitting in there in the dark:
