The awning marked 'Nuit' suggests something French, although many non-French places might use a French word to convey an image. I will suggest someplace in Montreal.

Is it cheating if we Google? Because I think I know where Ganzfeld's clock is, which also explains why it looked familiar.

It reminds me of clocks in Vancouver, British Columbia. Which is what i think it is, a steam clock from Vancouver.

Dogwoods in late summer? I guess they might be. The dogwoods I know tend to be of one color or another, not mixed but they do look like that typical four-petal dogwood flower.

GenYus was talking about the flowers depicted on the clockface, not the flowers in the hanging basket.

Still, dogwoods should have four petals. The clock is at Cambie and Water.

Four petals, and a notch out of each one. Here's a nice closeup of dogwood flowers.

ETA: The same google search also yielded this photo of "Pacific dogwood," which looks more like the flowers on the clock.

Are dogwoods a Vancouver thing? (ETA - Aha. I see that it's a BC thing. But apparently some people don't know it's supposed to be the Pacific Dogwood.) The flowers look more like a fruit flower to me, orange or lemon perhaps.

What is the ruling on Google or other searches? Because that is an easy one to Google for and find the answer to.

Though it sppears to be a twisted pyramid, it seems more like that is a forced perspective, though there may be some lesser tapering. There are windmill-type blades at the top, but the array is four blades, rather than the three-blade array of modern power-generation windmills (which are sleeker on the outside than this). This looks like a wooden windmill of the type used for ocean pumping in The Netherlands.

I have used Google to verify each of my guesses. I think think it is okay, but I am willing to cease and desist my Googlage if it against the rules.

Google is allowed, mainly because I already used Google on the cave one...
