Default The Battle of Karansebes

On 17 Sep, 1788 during the Austrian-Turkish War did the Austrian Army accidentally lay siege to a city that its own forces held, causing the death of 10,000 Austrian soldiers?

This tale has been discussed repeatedly on a history forum that I frequent. It's just to amusing a tale to want it to be true despite a lack of physical evidence.
But the author's habit of referring to himself in the third person was extremely distracting.

Surprisingly I found the major source listed in wiki on Amazon... now I just need $120 and to increase my meager knowledge of German to find out myself.
