Well, once you hit 100 your odds of dying on any given day are probably pretty high. So when we're talking 110+ it's bound to happen a lot.

Funny ... this one says Emiliano Mercado del Toro replaced 116-year-old Elizabeth “Lizzie” Bolden. No mention of the OP.

Kevin Nealon, in his stand up routine, said that his 101 year old grandmother had a near-death experience. But, he said that at that age, just about everything is a near-death experience.

Japan Japan's centenarians falling through the cracks

A recent case of a woman accused of collecting the pension of her dead father, who would have been 111, has sparked an effort to account for all the thousands of centenarians on Japan's rolls. As society changes, many are living, and dying, alone.

More than 230,000 Japanese centenarians 'missing'

The Justice Ministry said some of those unaccounted for may have died as long ago as World War II or emigrated, possibly during the post-war turmoil and their details never reported.

Seems the authorities are now concerned that the welfare system is being exploited by dishonest relatives, some claiming benefits for many decades after a person's death.

Blow Your Top

Though I guess it's in the realm of possibility, I've never heard of anyone referring to their great-great-great grandchildren. I've read some obituaries that referred to a great-great grandchild, and that staggered my mind.
Henry 'Pop' Brown Sr., 98, saw the birth of 379 grandchildren

By the time "Pop," as he was called, died at his home at age 98, he had seen the birth of 10 children and a school's worth of younger offspring: 61 grandchildren, 130 great-grandchildren, 162 great-great-grandchildren, and 26 great-great-great-grandchildren.

Mr. Brown's death came as a surprise to the family
He was 98. How much of a surprise could it have been? To quote an old phrase "he'd had his innings".
