Icon22 Awkward (minor) confessions

Post your minor confessions here! Try not to post anything too serious.

I'll go first: I actually really like the Steve Earle song 'Copperhead Road'.
People who know me and my usual music preferences would be pretty surprised that I like a song that's so steeped in redneck/hillbilly culture.

Speaking of songs - I recently created a playlist and I included Bobby Sherman, David Cassidy and the Osmonds on it along with lots of other artists from the '60s and '70s. My friends and family already know about this (there has been some discussion of finding rehab for People Who Can't Let Go of Bubble Gum Music) but I'd probably be a little embarrassed if a total stranger heard me belting out "Point Me In The Direction Of Albuquerque" at a traffic light .

I like the song "Barbie Girl".

ETA: Also, Jack-in-the-Box's tacos. They are horrible, nasty things, but they also have crack, so I'll often want them.

ABBA... I can't help it! All their songs are just so darn catchy!

I also occasionally crave a beef grilled stuffed burrito from Taco Bell... and almost immediately regret it when I give in and get one...

That's me with KFC. I rarely give in and when I do I always regret it afterwards, but every once in a long while I crave that greasy goodness!

I have been to Italy on multiple occasions, so I know what real Italian food tastes like, but I still love the soup, salad, and breadsticks at Olive Garden.

I don't like cheesecake.

I have "My Humps" by the Black Eyed Peas on my iPod.

Hey, ABBA rocks! I blast their music, unashamedly. They knew how to create catchy music, and that's good enough for me.

As to my own confession: I LOOOOOOOOOVE Disco. What's not to like about mindlessly happy and joyous music?

Ditto! But usually when I talk about liking Abba, the reaction is more like this (NSFW for language):

Awkward, minor confession time:

- Avril Lavigne is my guilty pleasure. I really enjoy her music
- Clive Cussler can write out the ingredients to a box of cereal, and I will buy his book
- I don't get attached to my vehicles. I see them as useful, but not an extension of me. So, I am not overly upset when I have to trade one in for another
- I was a male figure skater into high school when I stopped because it was getting too expensive for my family. It is still one of my favourite sports to watch. Too bad I can only watch at home during the Winter Olympics
- I don't do politics. I usually only engage in political discussion to highlight hypocrisy, rather than take a stand. Most political stances are not my political stances

I think that is enough for now. Whew. Glad that is off my chest.

I have that whole CD. Great music for housework, played loud, with me singing along.

Mr S and I are known for our food in our circle of friends (he's a chef, I'm trained, but not in the business). We are having Mcdonalds for dinner, by our own choice. And we bought 4 different flavours of Combos on the weekend (hard to find around here).

The musical of their music is in the top ten of longest running shows on both Broadway and the West End and the musical movie is the second highest grossing live action musical after the live action Beauty and the Beast. I wonder if this is a case of the very popular thing that no one consumes (couldn't find a TV Trope on it). Kind of like how no one ever watched the Dukes of Hazzard.

Speaking of TVPTTNOC, I like many of Nickleback's songs and think they are a good band.

ETA: Also, zhe's a royal bitch, so zer opinion may not be globally held.

Or Hee Haw, although they know the words to “Where Oh Where Are You Tonight?”

Don't worry. I am in no position to judge anyone's love of stupid music: I adore stupid music. Like I love "Horse with No Name" because it's so obviously a stoner song, something written while the band was crashed out on the couch, stoned out of its gourd. Guy's totally lying there, going, "So like the heat was hot, man, and the ground was dry, and the air was like full of sound..."

I also love "It's Raining Men" and I have several themes from Power Rangers. And though it's clichéd and ridiculous, I still love the musicals, Cats and Phantom of the Opera. They got me through a difficult time in my life, dammit!

The thread title is Awkward (minor) confessions. Next you'll be saying that you think Lenin had some good ideas on crowd control.

Stupid autocorrect. That was supposed to say, "I like clubbing baby seals."
