All of the symmetrically split eggs I've seen have a flat spot on one side (so they don't roll). Plus, what Esprise Me says, you have the joint where they meet to account for.

Satan's Hobbit, I hate you.

Also, IME, the larger the egg, the more likely to split symetrically; smaller eggs almost always go for the equator.

You don't need two molds. You have the innie on the right and the outie on the left, so that when the two are pushed together, the innie on one aligns with the outie on the other.

The Silly Putty eggs, which split symmetrically, are about as small of a plastic egg as I have seen. They are certainly smaller than a real chicken egg.

The mold issue is one aspect of why you'd design a plastic egg like that, but not a very big one IMO. It isn't like the company has just one mold with one egg half. They'd have dozens or hundreds of molds, so being able to produce both halfs from one mold wouldn't be a huge decision point.

Another point is how the split affects the egg. The weakest point of the egg is going to be where the split is because each half has less support. Having the split around the equator would create the least amount of weakened shell and would provide the most support from the rest of the egg. That would allow the company to use less plastic for each egg, which would be one of the significant costs in a mass production of eggs.

Even eggs split along the equator often come from one mold. It includes both halves at the same time.

This shows up far more often on my facebook feed than it should.

Don't know if this a true meme, but I'm really getting tired of the 'daddy's little girl must be protected from big bad boys!' routine. Yes I understand that fathers want to protect their daughters, but the humorous(?) take on that is getting obnoxious. The latest culprit is a Toyota ad.

I've always hated the "watch out for dad" meme. What it screams to me is I don't trust my daughter to make her own decisions.

Not sure if it's a meme as such, but a while ago Doug Walker AKA Nostalgia Critic gave his ex-girlfriend a cameo in one of his shows, to help her career.
One guy in the comments labelled this as "Such a Beta thing" to do.
I've seen the Beta-label twice now, meaning to say the man in question is a pushover or such, while they usually just did something nice for no other reason than doing something nice.
Beta....really?

Seen on facebook:

"I don't care what your son 'identifies as'....
He doesn't belong in the bathroom with my daughter!!"

There isn't a big enough. Saw it shared by a 20 year old. I know age shouldn't matter, but it always bothers me a lot more when young people share this kind of hateful crap.

Part of me wanted to leave a comment, but I've vowed to stop doing that on social media posts, because it never makes me feel better and always just leaves me feeling anxious. There was *one* time where I actually was able to have a productive discussion with someone I disagreed with, but before we reached the stage of understanding and reasonable exchange, I had already ruined a good night's sleep ruminating about it

The one bright side is the only one who has "liked" or responded at all to the post is the girl's boyfriend, who has similarly "progressive" ideas. Part of me really wants to leave a comment saying "I dunno mate, that's what stalls are for" or something similarly dismissive of the viewpoint, but ... *sigh*

I feel like a shitheel about picking my battles like this. Someday things will get better, and someday I'll be a better ally.

There's a new...I don't know, quiz? It supposedly determines what FB status you'll post in 10 years. At least a dozen people in my feed have shared theirs, some only to mock it (but why would you do that? It's not news that these things exist and are stupid.) Pretty much everyone's status is along the lines of "finally met the man/woman of my dreams," "became a mother/father," etc., so it's not even clever. (I would really enjoy a well-done version of this that played on contemporary common status updates, such as, say "lost my phone, everyone please give me your new number," with an absurd future lens, e.g. "brain chip malfunctioning, everyone please contact me thru FB until I can get back on the BetaNet.")

The worst part is, if Facebook still exists in ten years and is substantially similar to the way it is now, everyone will be posting time hops to regurgitate this stupid meme and make a very original and insightful point about how this prediction DIDN'T EVEN COME TRUE!!!

A while back, there was a facebook thing that would generate fake statuses based on statuses you've actually made. It would use your vocabulary/things you were likely to say, and even had the sentence constructions, rhythms, and capitalization/emphasis frequency pretty well simulated. Then ones it generated for me were really funny in their believability, they read like something I would have written in a dream-reality. The ones my friends came up with were amusing as well. It was actually a pretty cool if creepy piece of programming. The one you describe sounds really boring as well, like it's all just canned responses, maybe 5 or 10 to choose from.

a new meme that is annoying me a bit. Some back story for those who don't know or don't care to know . Axl Rose from Guns n Roses is filling in for Brian Johnson for the rest of AC/DC's tour, Brian Johnson is going deaf, and had to step down from being the AC/DC frontman. there are so many memes being created saying that without Brian Johnson AC/DC should die, and that Brian Johnson was AC/DC and without him the band is nothing.

What about Bon Scott? According to this meme, Bon Scott was AC/DC, and thus AC/DC should have died in 1980 with him. And Axl isn't replacing Brian Johnson permanently yet, just for the rest of the tour, and from what I heard he did really well at Coachella. I can understand a lot of people don't like Axl Rose, but hey it could be worse, they could have gotten Vince Neil! (I say that as a Motley Crue fan)

If the internet was popular at the time, there would probably have been people saying that about Pete Best.

To save TGG time, I'll link to it: They changed it, now it sucks

As a Chicago fan, I know of people who think they should have packed it in when Terry Kath killed himself.(And frankly, I've gone back and forth on the idea myself.)

Ecchh. That's a particularly grievous form of PCM asshattery.
