'Paul Is Dead' Rumor Not Dead (And Neither Is Paul)

June 18 marks the 68th anniversary of Paul McCartney's birth -- if he had lived.

Yes, that's right, if he had lived.

Because while that old "Paul is dead" urban legend was supposedly killed when McCartney himself did a news conference in 1969 announcing that the rumors of his death had been "greatly exaggerated," an upcoming new documentary is hoping to exhume it -- with the alleged help of George Harrison.

It seems as though you probably aren't meant to take it as seriously as it seems to be presented there...

DeCurtis, a contributing editor at Rolling Stone, hasn't seen the documentary, but he has interviewed both McCartney and Harrison. After watching the trailer, he came to one inescapable conclusion: "That's not George Harrison's voice!"

It's not even a real Liverpool accent, it's somebody doing a dodgy imitation!

Yeah, it can. And you can find such "clues" with any artist if you try hard enough and there is enough material by them to allow it. I even made a Britney Spears Is Dead page as a joke, using quotes from her songs (and, yeah, a lot of stuff I just made up...)

Yes, there's actually a site called "The King is Naked" or something, run by people who obsessively believe that Paul is dead. The details on the page are, surprise surprise, supposedly culled from a testimony by George Harrison.

Only one problem though...

They've revised the page several times. The story has changed drastically. I think they even tried to say that Paul, Vivian Stanshall, and Neil Aspinall are the same person.

Despite the fact that I think, the "Paul is dead"-rumour is kind of nuts, I understood from the article that the "member of MI5" was called "Maxwell", not MI5 itself.

*nods* Yes, and I have to say, I keep finding more and more clues, the harder I look.

My theory is a bit different, though. The Paul giving concerts now is the real Paul McCartney; it's just that there was an impersonator pretending to be him until 1966.
