Was just checking the weather on my local station and this is in the forecast (bold mine):

I have a picture on my cell phone (I don't have the cord to transfer it to my computer) of a rack of cooking thermometers in my local Meijer's and the sign above one says "beer thermometer". I'm pretty sure it's supposed to be "beef thermometer".

I also have a picture of a parking sign in front of my vet's that says, "Veterinary Hospital Parking Only - All others will be neutered". Obviously, that one's intentional so it's a bit off-topic, but I like it nonetheless.

Unfortunately have no photos (before cameras were invented and no artist available) but for several years a local road had a painted sign reading SLOM

How far back are you talking about? Cameras were invented in the mid ninteenth century, prrobably some time before it became customary to paint instructions on the roads.
