What I swore I heard on a news report over the weekend (paraphrase):
...officials want to know why Jared Kushner set up a bat channel.... Me: Oh please--you boomers and your nostalgia. ![]() |

Well, this administration cannot get anymore strange, so I would not be shocked.
That, and there is going to be a new Communications Director, so you never know. |

Somewhat embarrassed to realize that the correct lyric in the Beach Boys' "Fun, Fun, Fun" is "She makes the Indy 500 look like a Roman chariot race, now" - I always heard it as "Rotarian race" (which made sense in my head, since local Rotary clubs often sponsor 5k foot races or similar for charity).

So, I use Amazon Music to stream random music when I don't care to get a specific playlist of mine. They have lyrics to some songs, and so I see some of them.
Well, the song "Love Runs Out" by OneRepublic came on, and I happened to see the lyrics. At one point, we got: Quote:

I believe your first statement is correct, and that people are getting ripped off.
I was listening to the BeeGees on the radio last week, and while I usually hear "More than a woman" as just that, this time I did hear "four letter woman" as well. It made me think fondly of this thread. Seaboe |

Earlier this week, Alex Trebek was talking to the contestants the way he always does after the first commercial break. One of the contestants told him she works with foster parrots. Oh, you do parrot rescue! thinks me. Wow, it never occurred to me that parrot rescue groups would foster incoming birds, and.....OH!!!

I won't say my iTunes Music library is terribly large by most standards but, for whatever reason, certain songs can take ages to come up in a song shuffle.
Last weekend, "All Good Gifts" from the musical Godspell came up. There's a line in there that I've misheard since I was a teenager, even though I know what the proper lyric is. The correct lyric is: "The seed time and the harvest, our life, our health, our food." But my head always hears: "The seed time and the harvest, are like our health, not good." ~Psihala (*Well, that sucks.) |

My son heard the first line in Charlie Puth's "Attention" as "You've been runnin' 'round, runnin' 'round, runnin' 'round throwin' that turtle on my knee" and now that's all I can hear.

Well, to be fair, if the seed time and the harvest aren't good, chances are the people's health won't be good either.

True, that. But it would sort of defeat the message the song is trying to make.

On my Pandora channel, there was a Jewel song I don't think I've heard before called "Serve the Ego."
I had to bring the screen up to check the title, because I could have sworn the line she kept repeating was "Sam the Eagle..." |

I just found out last night that I'd misheard some of the lyrics to Believe in Me by Dan Fogelberg (one of my favorite Fogelberg songs). It's not funny, and is fairly minor, but knowing what's right does make the rhythm of the verse make more sense.
Lyrics: If I could ever say it right And reach your hostage heart despite The doubts you harbor then you might Come to believe in me What I heard: If I could ever say it right And reach your hostage heart despite The doubts you harbor within you might Come to believe in me Seaboe |

Just found a mondegreen in the LTYSHTTP people. The Two Princes song actually says "I know what a prince and lover ought to be". The singer says it so quickly that I thought it was "I don't want to prince your little heart to pieces". I always thought that lyric was weird, but figured he was trying to be clever. The singer doesn't want to overwhelm the lady with worldly goods and royal airs, apparently.

I actually know the correct lyrics here, but every time I hear ABBA's "Take A Chance On Me", I hear, "I will do my very best to end your life", instead of "gonna do my best and it ain't no lie".

Lately Sonic has been running ads for their new slushies (is there even a Sonic in the DC area?). The ad shows two men enjoying their slushies, one of which is pickle juice.
