Ah, so the photo's actually from 1951. That makes more sense to me, as I thought the car in the photo looked a little old for 1959. Not that I don't think it's plausable that someone would be driving an 8 year old car in 1959, but I would expect that for a staged photo op like that they'd use a shiny new car, not just whatever random car happened to be in the service bay. Though it's kind of hard to tell in a black and white photo, that car does look pretty shiny and new. 1955 might be more believable, but even then automotive styling had moved away from what's in the photo and you'd think they'd want to use a sleek looking new design for their photo.

Back in the fifties, my family was rural and poor and we couldn't afford such fancy things. We had to crawl underbeneath the car to do maintenance and we'd emerge all bruised up. You could say we had a blue-black rube lack of lube rack.
